Honda Pacific Coast 800
1989-1990; 1994-1998
The futuristic Honda PC800 was a misunderstood motorcycle. Perhaps this was because it was a motorcycle built for non-motorcycle riders. In an attempt to appeal to the car-driving yuppie, the bike was completely wrapped in plastic panels and had a spacious trunk. The bike was extremely low-maintenance since commuters don't like to tinker. Instead of the regular noisy exhaust, the PC 800 sounds more like a sewing machine than a motorcycle.Consumers were completely confused - was it a motorcycle, a scooter, or an unfinished Honda Accord? In many respects, it was ahead of its time, but the poor public response led Honda to pause production for 4 years. They tried again in 1994, but sales stalled and eventually it was discontinued.
